Omsky Biocluster's 'Genetics and Breeding of Cattle Practice' news

December 12-13 at the SIBAGROCOMPLEX Group training base (member of Omsky Biocluster) were field workshops for students of the Faculty of Zootechnics, Commodity Science and Standardization of Omsk State Agrarian University. This is the first track of the joint educational project of the Omsky Biocluster participants for the preparation and development of practical skills in the field of reproduction and breeding of cattle.

The students got acquainted with the structure and work of the biohousing system, the cryobiological vessels processing system, the sperm production quality control laboratory, listened to lectures on pedigree work, anatomy and physiology of the reproductive system, and the organization of herd reproduction. Also, practical classes were held to work in the laboratory to thaw and evaluate the quality of seed bulls producers.

"At present, staff shortage is one of the main problems for raising livestock efficiency not only in the Omsk region," head of Omsky Biocluster's 'Genetics and Breeding of Cattle Practice' Anatoly Shulakov says. - Our joint project is of great importance, since students in addition to theoretical training should acquire practical skills in working as a zootechnician, an artificial insemination operator, a breeder, and use in the educational process of specialists who have not only teaching but also practical experience. Therefore, we responded enthusiastically to the offer to participate in the education of our OmSAU students. If we succeed in attracting real work in animal husbandry even a few people off course, this will be progressalready and help for our enterprises, which need new qualified specialists in the state of zootechnical service. We hope that our cooperation in this field will be long and fruitful."

A few more practical classes are planned on the SIBAGROCOMPLEX Group training base for bachelors and undergraduates of full-time and part-time forms of training of OmSAU.
