Phytoexpertise will ensure the quality of the future Omsk crop

Most of the diseases of agricultural crops are transmitted through the seed, as the chemical composition of the seeds are a complete nutrient medium for many microorganisms and fungi. Phytoexamination can prevent the spread of diseases transmitted through seeds.

The Rosselkhoznadzor (Omsk Branch) and the Omsk Reference Center (Omsky Biocluster member) annually perform a phytoexamination in the Omsk region, its results show the presence of pathogens in almost all batches of goods. The characteristics of each seed lot (along with data on productivity, purity, germination) should reflect its sanitary state, since in some cases, the presence of an internal infection does not have a noticeable effect on seed germination.

However, such seeds when sowing become a source of diseases in the latent form of seed damage. The composition of the pathogenic seed complex includes dozens of species of fungi, bacteria and viruses, among which, according to phytoexamination, the causative agents of gelmintosporioznaya and fusarium root rot, various spots, molds of seeds, solid and dusty smut prevail. The result may be a loss of yield up to 20% or more. Excessive contamination of grain may lead to its unsuitability even for fodder purposes.

However, there are dozens of treaters, using which you can get healthy shoots even with a relatively high level of seed infection. At the same time, the frost resistance of crops and their resistance to powdery mildew, rust, septoria and other infections increase. The effectiveness of such funds varies considerably. Therefore, success largely depends on the correct choice of the drug, based on the results of phytoexamination of seeds.

Experienced phytopathologists of the Seed Production and Plant Protection Department of the Omsk Reference Center of the Rosselkhoznadzor will help the farmers to select the most suitable drugs according to the results of the analysis, which will save money and use them with maximum benefit. During the growing season, experts will conduct a survey of crops for the identification of diseases and pests, find out the level of contamination and will issue recommendations to combat them.
