Russia increased baker's yeast exports tenfold

From 2014 to 2018, the export of baker's yeast from Russia grew from 3,000 tons to 30,700 tons, according to an BusinesStat analysis. In 2014, baker's yeast exports accounted for 2.9% of domestic output (23.5% in 2018).

The largest export growth took place in 2018, when the volume of export of yeast abroad increased by 17,500 tons compared with 2017. This is primarily due to the start of deliveries to Estonia in the amount of 3,970 tons and an increase in exports to Algeria, Uzbekistan and Iraq. In addition, due to the devaluation of the ruble, Russian-made yeast has become much more affordable for foreign buyers.

BusinesStat analysts forecast an increase in the supply of Russian yeast abroad in 2019-2023. This will be associated with increased production. BusinesStat estimates that in 2023, the export of baker's yeast from Russia will reach 69,000 tons, which will exceed 2.2 times in 2018. The share of exported products from the volume of Russian production will increase in 2023 to 42.3%.
