On October 10, the Associations of Starch Producers of China, Europe, Mexico, Russia, Turkey and the United States announced the establishment of the International Federation of Starch Associations (IFSA). The IFSA goal is to promote active industry dialogue, as well as coordination and sharing of resources. Common strategic priorities are healthy nutrition, workplace safety, environmental sustainability, product safety and environmental issues, as well as coordination of efforts to communicate the benefits of starch based products. The IFSA will also strive to express consensus in international organizations such as the World Health Organization and the Codex Alimentarius Commission.
Jamie Fortescue, Starch Europe managing director, noted that the participants are very pleased to IFSA launch today and look forward to working with colleagues from around the world on interesting innovations in this sector, as well as on common problems that the sector participants are facing. "We are very pleased to develop an international industry collaboration in this format. Of course, the main goal for our sector is to exchange experience and form a consolidated position globally. Obviously, some issues in the 21st century can only be solved by joint efforts. I wish all of us productive activities!" Oleg Radin, president of the Association of Russian Producers of Starch-Syrup Products, сommented.
