The distilleries of North Ossetia can be converted to bioethanol

About 10 distilleries in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania are ready for re-profiling for the production of bioethanol, head of the republican department for state regulation of production and turnover of alcoholic and alcohol-containing products, Batraz Khidirov, said on January 16, TASS reported.

"Now the US and Brazil are the leaders in the production of bioethanol, the demand for the product is growing all over the world. We have huge factories equipped with advanced technologies that invested billions of rubles and which can become a ready base for the development of this industry in Russia," Khidirov said. Also, according to him, the transition to a new type of products will allow the restart of enterprises that have been idle for several years due to the lack of licenses for alcohol production. "The experience of bioethanol production in the republic already exists, but the normal development of the new industry requires the adoption of a corresponding federal law," Khidirov said.
