New pig complexes will be built in Nizhny Novgorod and Orel regions

Russian and foreign investors continue to increase investment in Russian pig production, planning the construction of new production facilities. In addition to Miratorg, it is the Norwegian company Rasha Baltic Pork Invest.

Norwegian investors are ready to invest 4 billion rubles ($ 70.98 million) in the construction of a large pig-breeding complex for 180,000 head. The site for the project is currently being selected in Nizhny Novgorod region. This pig complex for the Norwegian company will be the third in Nizhny Novgorod region - a pig complex was previously built in Vadsky district, another production of pork 19 thousand tons per year and worth 3 billion rubles ($ 53.23 million) is being built in Bolshemurashkinsky district. It is planned that the products of the third pig complex can be supplied to other regions, since the production volumes of the first two will ensure the domestic needs of the Nizhny Novgorod region in pork. Rasha Baltic Pork Invest can also invest in the processing of pork - there are talks about the possible construction of facilities for the production of sausage products.

Miratorg will build pig complexes in Orel region by 2030 with a capacity of up to 203 thousand tons of commercial meat per year and a compound feed plant with the capacity of 800 thousand tons per year. 25 billion rubles ($ 443.61 million) are planned to be allocated for their creation, including borrowed funds. The Government of Orel region and the company agreed on the implementation of the project last year. The agreement was signed at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi.

The project is part of a large-scale pig division in the Kursk region worth 160 billion rubles ($ 2839.12 million). Pig-breeding productions was decided to move to another region due to a shortage of land for construction. They are planned to be built until 2022.

In addition, Miratorg will build a distribution center in Moscow region, which will make it possible to increase the supply of deep processing products to the region. The total investment in the project will amount to 10 billion rubles ($ 177.44 million). It is expected that the center will work in the autumn of 2019. The center will also be able to provide storage, processing and logistics services to other companies.
