In April, Titan-Agro LLC (member of Omsky Biocluster) purchased 13 boars of Landrace, Large White and MaxGrow in the context of the planned renovation of the genetic material of the Petrovsky Pig-Breeding Complex. These pigs are characterized by high growth rates, meat quality and low fat content.
Boars arrived in Omsk region from Vologda, where there is a selection genetic nucleus of the Irish company PIC Genetics (Hermitage AI). They were taken to Siberia by special transport intended for transportation of animals. The route for transportation of breeding boars was agreed by the Central Veterinary Department of Omsk region and ran through the territories of those Russian regions where the African swine fever virus was not registered. The weight of each boar is about 140 kg.
Animals are in quarantine now, they are serviced by a separate staff. Boars will undergo a whole complex of veterinary measures (adaptation, blood analysis, vaccination, etc.) for a month, which are necessary for introducing animals into the main herd. All manipulations with animals are carried out according to the scheme developed at the Petrovsky Pig-Breeding Complex. After exiting the quarantine regime, the breeding boars will be transferred to the artificial insemination station.
The first batch of pedigree animals from Ireland in the amount of 3,000 heads went to the Petrovsky Pig-Breeding Complex in the autumn of 2011. To date, the company's livestock contains about 60 thousand animals, including 50 boars (excluding newcomers) and about 3,800 sows. PPetrovsky Pig-Breeding Complex has IV compartment and the highest degree of biological protection. The enterprise is equipped with Big Dutchman equipment (Germany), which allows ensuring high standards of hygiene in the animal welfare zone. The automated feeding system makes it possible to provide animals with the necessary volume of balanced feeds efficiently and dosed.
