The export of Russian pork grew 1.5 times

By 2024, the volume of Russian agroexport should almost double - from $ 20.8 billion in 2017 to $ 45 billion, Vladimir Putin defined such goals after the inauguration. Russian meat, indeed, is developing new markets, mostly Asian and African.

The export of pork rose 1.5 times last year, from 16.6 to 23.7 thousand tons. At the same time, only 1.5% of Russian pork is exported abroad.

The world's leading producer of pork and beef is Brazil. Until recently, Brazilian meat was actively supplied to the Russian market, but in December of last year the Rosselkhoznadzor banned its import after finding a dangerous growth stimulant ractopamine in the product. Russia can not compete with Brazil on foreign markets, but, according to experts, our country has good prospects.

"The main volume of Russian pork goes to Hong Kong, while other export destinations are Vietnam, Ukraine, Ghana, Angola." Export growth is 50% compared to last year," said Anna Kudryakova, a meat market expert at the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies.

It is known that Hong Kong and Vietnam perform the functions of 'meat laundry', with the help of which meat products from Russia, passing the official ban on imports, are forwarded to China.
