The European Union has canceled the anti-dumping import duty in force for the last five years in the amount of 62.3 euro / t for ethanol supplied from the USA, S & P Global Platts reports.
In connection with this decision, the European Ethanol Association ePURE in its statement noted that the decision to abolish the duty will have a negative impact on the ethanol industry in the EU. In addition, the association notes that the risks for the EU to increase the supply of products from the US are growing, since Brazil, China, Peru and Colombia have already banned or plan to limit purchases of ethanol from the US.
At the same time, market operators in the EU say that the abolition of duties on US ethanol was expected. In addition, many experts believe that the abolition of the duty does not necessarily lead to an influx of imports from the US, since the EU continues to have special requirements for imported ethanol, which may limit the supply of products from the US.
