Russia intends to transfer to Chinese investors a large amount of land for agricultural projects. The director of the investment department of the Agency of the Far East for attracting investments and supporting exports, Viktor Dubrovsky said in an interview with the media on August 10, Zerno On-Line reported with reference to the Chinese resource YiCai Global.
"We have great hope that China's industrial and commercial companies will make investments in the processing of agricultural products, meat, dairy products and other food processing enterprises," Dubrovsky said, adding that the available resources include one million hectares of land. "The Far East is well known in China for its environmentally friendly and high-quality products."
The eastern regions of Russia have a rich land resource, of which about eight million hectares are intended for agricultural purposes and three million hectares for cultivation, as a result of which one third of the territory is still underdeveloped. Chinese investors have funded some agricultural projects in the Far East, including growing soybeans, building food distribution points and dairy farming.
