Supply of Brazilian meat can be completely stopped

The ban on the importation of beef and pork to Russia from Brazil can be introduced before the end of this week. This was warned in the Rosselkhoznadzor, citing the disappointing results of inspection of meat supplied from Brazilian enterprises.

According to the National Meat Association (NMA), today Brazil accounts for more than 90 percent of pork imported from the far abroad and up to 65 percent for beef.

The disappearance of Brazilian pork from Russian stalls will not affect the level of prices for these products, according to the NMA. Over the past months, the cost of this type of meat in the Russian market fell by 15-18 percent - to 135-145 rubles ($ 2.26-2.43) per kilogram, and its production in the country continued to grow. As for the beef market, the situation here will largely depend on alternative suppliers and Belarus, the industry association believes.
