African swine fever - now in Mongolia

Rosselkhoznadzor Branch for the Irkutsk region and the Republic of Buryatia warned local pig producers about the increased risks of ASF. According to the International Epizootic Bureau official data, the first outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) was recorded on January 9 in Mongolia.

 

The disease was found in domestic pigs in Bulgan aimag, located in the northern part of the country, near the border with the Tunkinsky district of Buryatia (Russia). The death of 85 animals was confirmed, 214 pigs were destroyed. Currently, measures are being taken in Mongolia to eradicate the disease and prevent further ASF spread.
