The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and Vnesheconombank (VEB) within the Sochi Investment Forum announced the need to create a federal network of distribution centers for agricultural products in Russia. This was reported by the press service of the ministry on February 16.
"The conclusion of the relevant agreement will start the implementation of the project to create a federal network of high-tech distribution centers. The construction of the center will create a modern, efficient and transparent sales system, create fair prices, increase the competitiveness of domestic agricultural products, and, most importantly, provide Russian citizens with Russian products," said Minister of Agriculture Alexander Tkachev.
He also announced the readiness of the ministry to provide state support to the establishment of these centers and assist in attracting agricultural producers, including agroholdings and agricultural cooperatives, to the federal distribution network, in order to ensure an effective interregional redistribution of products, as well as its exports through the infrastructure of the federal distribution network. Tkachev clarified that the pilot line of the project will link Novosibirsk, Kazan and Rostov and provide direct access to agricultural producers and farmers from Siberia, the Volga region and southern Russia to the markets and major metropolises.
Vnesheconombank Chairman Sergey Gorkov noted that the VEB Group, in partnership with Russian and international investors, is ready to participate in the creation of the federal distribution network, including the creation of several interregional centers, as well as several dozens of regional centers, by 2030.
