A batch of Bell pepper with weeds arrived in Omsk

Specialists of Omsk Reference Center of Rosselkhoznadzor (member of Omsky Biocluster) found the forbidden weeds in the party of Bell pepper, brought from Kazakhstan. Herbological examinations conducted in the Laboratory of Quarantine Phytosanitary Examinations and Surveys helped to identify the presence of a thin-dodder (quarantine weed for Russia).

The world flora has 274 kinds of dodder, widespread in many countries of the world. Dodder in Russia is known as a weed of planting crops. This plant is included in the Unified List of Quarantine Objects of the Eurasian Economic Union. The dodder is an annual parasitic plant in the form of a filiform or stringlike, highly branching stem. Dodder lives at the expense of the host plant, strongly wrapped around it and sucked by special outgrowths.

Information on the results of the examinations carried out by specialists of Omsk Reference Center was sent to the Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor of Omsk region.
