Start'Up'Academia: excursion to the Center for Youth Innovative Creativity

On February 14, StartUpAcademia of Omsky Biocluster went on an excursion at the Center for Youth Innovative Creativity RAZUM (Omsk).

At the Center for Youth Innovative Creativity, children can engage in scientific creativity – to invent their own projects and implement them independently. The intervention of teachers in the work is minimal, they only explain how to use computer programs and devices. Children have direct access to a laser cutting machine, 3D printers, as well as milling and turning-milling machines. All this equipment was purchased with subsidies in the amount of more than 4 million RUR ($ 60.7 thousand).

Viktor Osin, head and teacher, shared the history of the center creation:

"At first we had just a school of technical creativity, a year ago there was no Center for Youth Innovative Creativity. We organized one course, conducted it on the basis of a regional business incubator. I went to English courses, I really liked the organization of the learning process, and I had the idea of organizing such a center, but for engineering and technical matters. It turned out that such courses and schools already existed, but they were all based on LEGO designers, and in this case the children could not fully feel the technical creativity.
