Ariant refused to build a pig farm in the Kuzbass

Back in 2015, the agri-industrial company Ariant announced its intention to build in the Kemerovo region a pig complex for 270,000 heads with a capacity of 45,000 tons of meat per year, which would be the largest in Kuzbass. But the management of the company terminated the land lease agreements.

It was assumed that the pig complex will include a feed mill, a granary, a meat processing plant and a logistics center. The project was planned to spend RUR 10 billion ($ 155.44 million). In 2017, the company invested RUR 370 million ($ 5.75 million) in project documentation, land design, construction of infrastructure.

According to experts, the reason for failure is the lack of pork shortage. New sales opportunities will appear when Russian companies open up to the Chinese market.
