China is increasing the number of pigs

The growth in the number of gilts and sows continues in China, which improves the balance of supply and demand in the country. The number of breeding sows in October increased by 3.1% compared to the previous month and by 31.5% compared to the same period last year, reflecting growth for 5 consecutive months. The number of commercial pigs increased by 4.2% compared to the previous month and by 26.9% compared to the same period last year - an increase for 4 consecutive months.

The recovery of pig production and the growth of slaughter improves the balance of supply and demand. Prices have been declining for 11 consecutive weeks. The market price in the second week of November was CNY 46.47 per kilogram ($ 7.07), down CNY 13.17 ($ 2) from the highest price in mid-February.
