For the first time in 26 years, an outbreak of classical swine fever (CSF) was detected in Japan. The presence of a viral disease, also known as porcine cholera, has been confirmed by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture.
48 new outbreaks of the disease in wild (47 cases) and domestic (1 outbreak) pigs were confirmed. All outbreaks occurred in Gifu province. As a result, the country suspended the export of pork meat and wild boar.
