Russian oil oligarchs: Cows are to blame for bad environment

Cows are more harmful to the environment than cars, said Leonid Fedun, vice president and co-owner of Lukoil, during the presentation of the company's development strategy until 2035. According to the top manager, the cow emits more methane, but talking about it is "not fashionable."

"Today, nine-tenths of all the grain that is produced in the world goes to livestock feed, and of the eaten kilogram, only 10% is transferred to the consumer, everything else is released into the atmosphere," said Fedun. That is what we agree with Leonid Fedun, is the extremely inefficient use of crops in current economic processes. An effective solution is to build facilities for the deep processing of grain crops, where the efficiency of the breakdown and use of grain components exceeds 90%, and grain processing products can be used as environmentally friendly substitutes for the harmful environmental effects of hydrocarbons.

"The facts from American statistics do not confirm such theses in any way. In the USA, agriculture holds an honorable last place in terms of greenhouse gas emissions. The top 3, as one would expect, included transport, electricity, and industrial enterprises," says Cherkizovo’s chief analyst Andrey Dalnov, adding that the United States is a world leader in beef production with an annual output of about 12.5 million tons. "An incredible and transcendental mixture of isolates of vegetable protein, rapeseed and coconut oil, glued together with dozens of other ingredients in the likeness of cutlets, is presented as healthy and nutritious food. And the destructive effect of animal husbandry on the planet is discussed with new power. But humanity has been eating meat for a couple of million years, and, with a high probability, we are not genetically adapted to a radical plant diet," says Dalnov.

In the meantime, the Russian oil and gas lobby has found a new scapegoat. Obviously, we should forget about the environmental 'pranks' of the Russian oil and gas monopolies and just believe: cows are to blame for all sins!!!
