The authorities of the Siberian regions plan to create a consortium for the grain export to large foreign buyers and to simplify the export of wheat, problems with which have been observed in the Siberian Federal District (SFO) in the last two years. The agreement on the consortium creation is scheduled to be signed in Omsk in June, the Governor of the Omsk region, Alexander Burkov, said on Monday.
"We want to sign the constituent documents on the creation of a grain export consortium in Omsk in June. The bottom line is that large international companies are not ready to purchase (grain - ed.) in small batches. They need large volumes, guaranteed quality, guaranteed fulfillment of contractual obligations. This can only be done major traders," Burkov said.
According to him, the consortium will also include representatives of transport companies. "The transport system must also be worked out. If they (carriers - ed.) understand the loading of their rolling stock, they are ready to reduce prices. It is also possible to plan and regulate the speed of movement of products together," the governor said.
Omsk region is among the ten largest Russian producers of grain, milk and meat.
