OmSAU celebrates its 100th anniversary

Omsk has become a venue for celebrations dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of Omsk State Agrarian University (member of Omsky Biocluster), one of the leading universities of the agricultural profile in the Russian Federation.

The agenda includes many events: the solemn extraction of a capsule, laid in 1968, with a message to students in 2018; visiting the head of the region Alexander Burkov and the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Dzhambulat Khatuov of the experimental fields of OmSAU.

June 19, a solemn event was held under the title '100 years for the glory of Siberia and Russia', dedicated to the centennial anniversary of OmSAU. Dzhambulat Khatuov, who is on a working visit to Omsk region, congratulated the university on behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation Alexei Gordeyev and Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev. "The agricultural institute, established in 1918, and now the Omsk State Agrarian University, is a university with strong traditions, a perspective view of the future. OmSAU trained over 92,000 highly qualified specialists with the highest agrarian and agrarian-oriented education for centuries. Now the university has been transformed into a large educational scientific center," the message of the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, Dmitry Patrushev, reads.

On the same day, the grand opening of the University Veterinary Clinic of OmSAU took place. The clinic is a unique medical institution that provides educational, research, career-oriented work in the university. Practical classes on therapy, surgery, and physiotherapy are held on its base, where students practice techniques and methods of diagnostic and therapeutic work with animals. The head of Omsk region, Alexander Burkov, noted that Omsk region is an agrarian area, and the development of animal husbandry is one of the main tasks. One of the drivers of the process is the competence of the veterinary service, the quality of services and the staff professionalism. "Today we saw that this veterinary clinic can meet the needs of the region in this direction. We see that the demand for the services of this clinic appears even in neighboring republics - they bring here horses and other cattle, domestic animals. And we understand that this is a fact of assessing the quality of the work of the clinic staff. It's nice that the federal ministry of agriculture actively helped us in this, allocated subsidies, and such a clinic with the most modern equipment is a great help in the work of veterinarians."

The events dedicated to the anniversary of the Omsk State Agrarian University will be held throughout the year 2018.
