B.Titov: Do not be afraid of Chinese investment in agriculture

Russian business ombudsman Boris Titov, who is also the co-chairman of the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development, took part in the International Exhibition of Quality Consumer Goods International Commodity Fair 2019, which was held at the Moscow Expo Center. Boris Titov urged not to be afraid of Chinese investment in agriculture in the Far East.

According to Titov, Russia and China currently have the highest trade turnover figures for the entire history - $ 108 billion, from the Russian side raw materials prevail, from the Chinese - consumer goods and equipment: "Russia began to supply much more food products to China, they just opened their market for Russian poultry meat. Exports of grain and other agricultural products will grow. Chinese people are becoming the norm to consume Russian products that are considered very environmentally friendly in their market."

Boris Titov also noted that now more than five thousand companies with Chinese participation are registered in Russia, such companies are present in almost all Russian regions, in some of them making up a noticeable part of the local gross product. For example, 30% of the land in the Trans-Baikal Territory is cultivated by Chinese companies. "Some people consider this a disturbing fact, but it seems to me that the threat is exaggerated. If the state controls product quality, controls business compliance with legislation, then we should welcome any foreign investment. Especially from such a close friendly country like China. And we only benefit from the fact that they sow grain crops, grow vegetables, this is normal competition," Titov said.
