The use of starch in food products is growing

The use of starches in the launch of new food and beverage products is growing worldwide. According to Innova Market Insights, in 2018 the use of starches in new products increased by 8% compared to the same indicator in 2017.

 

In 2018, starches were more often used to create new bakery products (an increase of 27%), ready-made meals, side dishes (+ 13%) and snacks (+ 11%). Among starches, in 2018, the use of corn starch (growth by 41%), potato starch (+ 18%), wheat starch (+ 12%), tapioca starch (+ 9%), rice starch (+ 5%) increased most of all.
