The Russian confectionery market is close to saturation

The president of the Confectionery Industry Association (ASCOND), Sergei Nosenko, believes that the confectionery market in the Russian Federation is close to saturation. According to his forecast, the growth rate of the industry will soon slow down. The production of sweets in Russia in 2018 and 2019 will add 2-3% per year.

According to Agroinvestor, last year Russia produced 3.67 million tons of various confectionery products (+ 4% by 2016), exports amounted to almost 456 thousand tons to $ 1.2 billion.

According to Sergei Nosenko, Russia is the only country in the EAEU that exports sweets more than imports. The total market of the states included in the EAEU, in physical terms, is 4 million tons.
