Russia is developing a state standard that will prohibit antibiotics in raw materials completely and, as a result, in finished dairy products. It is also planned to create express methods for their detection.
In August 2018, the decision of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) on the maximum allowable level of antibiotic residues in animal products entered into force. Thus, antibiotics were legalized in raw milk, as well as in meat. For example, according to the document, bacitracin is admissible in milk - up to 0.1 mg / kg, ampicillin - 0.004 mg / kg. In total, the document indicated 72 drugs with acceptable standards.
According to Arkady Ponomarev (Chairman of the Rosstandart 'Milk and Milk Processing Products' Technical Committee for Standardization), the Russian market needs more stringent standards for the content of antibiotics in products. Already on April 16, the technical committee will consider the first draft of a new standard for the dairy industry. It is assumed a complete ban on drugs in raw materials and in the final product. In addition to this, rapid methods for their determination at each stage of production should be developed.
