Pork production in Russia has grown

The volume of pork production in Russia in January-April of this year amounted to 1.29 million tons, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. Compared to the same period in 2017, this indicator increased by 11.7%.

According to the director of the Department of Animal Breeding of the Ministry of Agriculture, Kharon Amerkhanov, the growth was due to production in Voronezh, Kursk, Pskov, Tomsk and Belgorod regions. At the same time, the decline in production was noted in Chelyabinsk, Omsk regions, the Republics of Udmurtia and Kabardino-Balkaria, and also in the Perm Territory.

According to the forecast of the General Director of the National Union of Pig Breeders Yuri Kovalev, the production of pork in Russia in 2018 will add 4-5% or about 150 thousand tons in slaughter weight. Recall that last year in our country was produced about 3 million tons of this meat.
