Head of EkoNiva Holding Stefan Duerr at a plenary meeting of the Federation Council discussed the reasons that hamper the development of the domestic agro industry.
In particular, he said that palm oil is five times cheaper than butter. As a consequence, no honest milk producer can compete with those who use palm oil in their products. In this regard, Mr. Durr asked the senators to take the acts to fight the falsification of dairy products.
Mr. Duerr said that he was confident of Russia's ability to become one of the leading agrarian powers. According to the head of EkoNiva, the state policy in the field of agroindustry is oriented to innovative progress and allows achieving the tasks set by the president for exporting agricultural products. But there are also problems. According to Mr. Duerr, it is necessary to take the law on unused lands.
He noted the need to seize such land and close illegal ways for resale by speculators. And, according to the businessman, it is necessary to allocate additional financing to the agrarian institutions, since the agrarian universities in the leading agricultural state should be at the level of the best universities in the country.
