For almost a month now, chicken eggs, which are in great demand among the country's population because of their low cost, have disappeared in state trade in Ashgabat (the capital of Turkmenistan), REGNUM reports.
Previously, eggs in state stores cost 3.3 manat ($ 0.94) per dozen. However, after a deficit arose, their value increased to 5 manat ($ 1.43). Now chicken eggs from the largest poultry farm of Turkmenistan Gush Toplumy can only be purchased in private stores or in markets where they are already sold at 8 manat ($ 2.29) per dozen. And home eggs brought from the nearest villages in the markets of Ashgabat are sold at a price of 10 to 12 manats ($ 2.86 - 3.43) for a dozen. Such a cost is too high for middle-income Turkmenistan citizens.
