Import of chocolate and sweets rose 1.5 times

According to the Center for Confectionery Market Research (CCMR), imports of chocolate and chocolate confectionery products to Russia in the first nine months of 2017 increased by 44% compared to the same period in 2016 to 43.9 thousand tons in the amount of $ 240.4 million. In total, the import of confectionery products of all types for the same period increased by 27% to 163.8 thousand tons in the amount of $ 523.5 million. Meanwhile, the segment of chocolate confectionery products is the largest in terms of value compared to other segments (flour and sugary).

 

Germany has been the main supplier of chocolate confectionery products to Russia over the past three years, experts at the CCMR say. In January-September, 2017, the share of chocolate products imported from this country amounted to 27.7% of the total volume of chocolate and chocolate confectionery. Also, countries such as Poland, Italy, France, Belgium, Switzerland, the Baltic States, the Netherlands are the main suppliers of these products.
