In 2019, Russian pork exports will grow by 20%

According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Agriculture, the supply of domestic pig production abroad by the end of this year will increase by more than 20% and exceed 100,000 tons. The development of the industry was discussed during a meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Union of Pig Producers, held on the basis of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.

Participants of the meeting noted that the main buyers of Russian pig production are Hong Kong, Vietnam and neighboring countries. The countries of the Asian region - China, Japan, South Korea and others are promising sales directions. The positive dynamics of exports has been observed since 2012, while last year alone it grew by 18%. At the same time, there is a tendency to reduce purchases of pig products abroad - by the end of last year, the volume of imports decreased by more than 70%.

Significant development in this area is due to an increase in pork production in Russia. This figure has increased by 1.5 times over the past seven years. By the end of 2018, production increased by 5.5%, to 4.8 million tons, in January-March of the current year - by another 4.3% compared to the same period last year. The Central Federal District, without a doubt, is the leader of the sector (half of the total production in Russia).

Now, Russia is in the top 7 global pork producers, with the further development of the industry, Russia's position in the international arena will only strengthen.
