November, 22, business breakfast was held with the Minister of Agriculture and Food Maxim Chekusov, organized by Omsky Biocluster Association with the support of the All-Russian Public Organization 'Business Russia' and the Interregional Center for Agro Industry Engineering. The event took place at the site of one of the largest agro-industrial enterprises of the region - Titan-Agro LLC  (member of Omsky Biocluster, part of the Titan Group) within the Effective Livestock Winter Session. The event was attended by the Director General of Titan Group JSC, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Omsk region Valery Boyko, specialists of enterprises, scientists from Omsk State Agrarian University, experts from Tomsk and Moscow regions.

The main attention was paid to breeding, genetics, animal feeding system, raising the professional competence of heads of agricultural enterprises engaged in animal husbandry, teachers of agrarian universities and attracting young specialists to enterprises and livestock farms.

According to Valery Boyko, Director General of Titan Group, the solution of these problems should be comprehensive, deputies of both the Legislative Assembly of Omsk region and the State Duma must be connected to work on them.

Livestock, in particular dairy cattle breeding, is one of the most complex industries that require long-term investment, where the period between investments and a positive financial result can be several years. And the efficiency of a particular enterprise is affected by many factors, from the genetic potential of animals and finishing with technological methods.

Maxim Chekusov, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region, talked about the main points of development of the livestock, noting that today there is a realistic prospect of livestock farming, as the industry is constantly supported at the federal and regional levels:

"The regional government this year decided to compensate our enterprises, investors, especially in the livestock sector, with 90% of infrastructure costs. I think this is a good aid to the development of livestock farms and the payback will be quite different."

Maxim Chekusov also recalled compensation for 50% of the cost of purchasing forage equipment. This year, according to the Minister, this program includes a technique for preparing feeds, and next year it is planned to add a technique for introducing liquid fertilizers.

Participants noted that only professional work aimed at improving the genetic potential of cattle will make the livestock industry efficient and competitive. The main thing is that enterprises should be managed by competent managers, updated and trained personnel, management was effective and brought significant economic profit, thereby developing the agro-industrial complex of the region.

As a result of the event, it was decided to establish a working group under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region to develop standards for effective livestock production.
