Corn with a high mycotoxin content found in Omsk

Specialists of the Laboratory of quality and safety of products of animal and vegetable origin, feed and environmental objects of the Omsk Reference Center (Omsky Biocluster member) found an elevated T-2 toxin content in the feed grain of corn.

Analysis of 18 corn grain samples allowed detecting in three of them significant exceedances of the maximum allowable T 2 level of toxin (Technical Regulations of the Customs Union of 09.12.2011 TR TS 015/2011 On Grain Safety). T-2 toxin is a mycotoxin produced by mold fungi of the genus Fusarium, extremely toxic. As a result of the use of moldy grain or flour, poisoning of a person or farm animals occurs.
