Russian pig breeding has grown again

In January 2019, the production of pigs in Russia for slaughter in live weight amounted to 325.1 thousand tons, which is 5.4% or 16.6 thousand tons more than the same period in 2018, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

 

The main increase in the production of pigs for slaughter was provided by manufacturers of the Voronezh, Belgorod, Chelyabinsk, Kursk, Lipetsk regions and the Krasnodar Territory. At the same time, production was reduced in Tver, Tambov, Kaliningrad, Vladimir regions and the Republic of Bashkortostan.
