Russian imports: palms are more, milk is less

In January-April 2018, Russia increased the import of palm oil and its fractions by 26.3% in physical terms, compared to the same period last year - up to 335 thousand tons, according to Rosstat.

 

For April, the volume of imports amounted to 68.2 thousand tons, which is 0.8% less than in April of last year and 29.5% less than in March 2018. Import of coconut, palm kernel oil, babassu oil and their fractions for four months decreased by 17.7% to 23.3 thousand tons. In April, imports of these goods amounted to 6.4 thousand tons, down by 21% in annual terms and by 7.2% in monthly terms.

 

Import of cheeses and cottage cheese increased for four months of the year by 9.8% to 79 thousand tons, while in April 14.8 thousand tons were imported to Russia. Deliveries of milk and cream increased almost 20% to 94.7 thousand tons as of May 1. In April, the import of this category amounted to 12.5 thousand tons. The import of milk and condensed cream significantly decreased, reaching 47.8 thousand tons, in four months of the year it decreased by 44.2% (6.9 thousand tons in April), including the import of milk and dry cream decreased by 48.8% to 33.2 thousand tons (4.8 thousand tons in April). Import of butter decreased almost twofold, amounting to 17.2 thousand tons from January to April, including butter imports in April of 2.9 thousand tons.
