Since August 23, the US officially introduced additional import duties of 25% on a number of Chinese goods supplied to the country for a total of $ 16bn, the press service of the US trade representative said. Additional duties, in particular, will be extended to tractors and a number of positions of agricultural equipment.
Thus, after the introduction of these measures, the volume of Chinese products subject to increased duties will grow to $ 50bn per year. The reaction of the Chinese Government was not long in coming: as stated by the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, a decision was made to raise to 25% of the customs import duty on a number of American goods from August 23. In particular, the duty on the American diesel fuel and meat products delivered to the country is increased. In general, the increase in import duties affected 279 thousand American goods worth $ 16bn.
