August 21, the StartUpAcademia team of Omsky Biocluster conducted an economic game MECOM, which allows managing your own business, making strategic decisions and competing with other participants. The event was held at the Business Incubator site of the Omsk State Agrarian University (member of Omsky Biocluster).
The participants of the business game in a understandable format got a practical idea about the features of the market mechanism, the principles of pricing, the criteria for marketing and R & D costs, while not risking real money. The business game allowed the students to analyze their mistakes in the decisions made, use several strategies of behavior of varying risk degrees, got an idea of the amount of information that must be regularly collected and processed for the successful management of the real company.
The event was commented by the head of the Business Incubator of OmSAU, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics, Accounting and Financial Control, PhD in Economics Vitaly Epanchintsev:
"The economic game was interesting and fascinatingly, the participants 'pumped' their competencies in agribusiness. Now we plan to hold such an event on the economic faculty of OmSAU at the beginning of the academic year."
MECOM is a computer program that simulates the real market relations of several competing companies. It was created on the basis of the US program Management and Economic Simulation Exercise (MESE), created at the request of the American educational corporation Junior Achievement (JA) by Harvard University.
