Since the beginning of 2019, Russia has shipped confectionery products worth $ 755 million abroad. The increase to the same indicator of the previous year amounted to 14.4% (excluding data from the EAEU countries for August and September).
The positive dynamics is due to the growing confidence in the quality of domestic confectionery products from foreign partners, as well as the expansion of the range, including in the premium segment, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Lut said. As Oksana Lut noted, the confectionery industry is rightfully considered one of the leading areas of the domestic food and processing industry. At the end of 2018, 3,896,000 tons of confectionery products (chocolate, sugar and flour confectionery) were produced in Russia, which is 3.7% higher than the same period of the previous year. Such figures and production rates make the Russian Federation one of the largest producing countries in the world.
Production growth is largely driven by increased export volumes. So, at the end of 2018, Russian manufacturers shipped over 536,000 tons of confectionery products worth over $ 1.17 billion abroad. At the same time, the products are characterized by the highest level of redistribution and added value. The plan for the export of confectionery products for the current year is $ 1.335 billion, and by 2024 the volume of deliveries should increase to $ 2.4 billion. "Of course, such successes are possible only if development and comprehensive modernization of the industry as a whole, the construction of high-tech enterprises and the launch of new modern production lines that ensure high demand for domestic confectionery," Oksana Lut said.
