Russia increases meat exports

Exports of meat for the nine months of 2020 showed significant growth - meat and offal worth $ 610 million were supplied to the markets of foreign countries, which is 79% more than in the same period last year.

 

The five main buyers of Russian meat include China, which imported products worth $ 235 million in 2020, which is 3.9 times more than in 2019. Vietnam is in second place, having increased its purchases by 3.8 times to $ 92 million. The third place is taken by Ukraine, which purchased Russian meat for $ 80 million (+ 14%). Exports to Hong Kong grew 2.1 times to $ 47 million, to Kazakhstan - to $ 35 million (+ 48%).

 

The main share in the total export volume in this segment falls on the supply of poultry meat, which increased to $ 317 million (+ 71%). The growth is primarily due to the dynamics of supplies to China. In January-September 2020, the export of poultry meat to the China increased to 113,000 tons, in monetary terms by 3.5 times to $ 208 million.

 

Exports of Russian pork and offal for the first nine months of this year showed more than double growth, reaching 131,000 tons in physical terms and $ 219 million in monetary terms. Positive dynamics is observed in all main directions of supplies. Thanks to the opening of the Vietnamese market in November 2019, Russian companies managed to supply $ 86 million in pork to the markets of this country.

 

In 2020, Russia supplied 9,400 tons of beef worth $ 48 million to foreign markets, which is 2.9 times more than in 2019. The leader among the buyers of Russian beef is China, whose market access was opened in mid-January. Over the nine months of this year, more than 5,000 tons of Russian beef worth $ 25 million have been exported to China.
