The number of beef cattle is growing in Russia

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, there is an increase in the number of cattle specialized meat breeds in the country. At the end of 2018, the number of cattle of meat breeds amounted to more than 2.26 million animals, which is 8.4% more than in 2017.

 

 

Over the past year, the highest dynamics of the indicator was observed in the Bryansk (+33 700 heads), Oryol (+31 800 heads), Tula (+19 100 heads), Kaluga (+15 500 heads), Smolensk (+12 700 heads) and Kaliningrad (+11 800 heads) regions.

 

The Ministry expects a positive trend to continue in 2019. According to the Ministry forecasts, the number of specialized beef cattle will grow to 2.4 million heads. The rise of this market segment is promoted by state support measures aimed at ensuring the sustainable development of beef cattle breeding, the implementation of large investment projects and the creation of highly productive herds.
