Russia will adopt a food quality law

Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare) proposes to introduce a new concept of food quality and fix it legislatively. Thus, the Russians will have a law on the principles of healthy eating, and the supervisory authorities will have another lever of pressure on business.

The new bill contains the definition of a quality product. Firstly, it is a safe product for health, secondly, it must become part of a full-fledged diet, thirdly, it must comply with certain consumer properties.

Starting next year, a register of producers of beer, beer drinks, cider, mead and poiret, which will become the equivalent of licensing, will be introduced in Russia. The registry emergence may entail a ban on sales of foreign and domestic beer made not according to established state standards. The document has been developed and is under discussion.
