Growing pigs for slaughter in Russia has grown

For 9 months of 2019, the production of pigs for slaughter in live weight in all categories of farms amounted to 3.55 million tons, which is 4.7% or 157,900 tons higher than the level of the same period in 2018, including production in agricultural organizations amounted to 3.17 million tons (+ 6.2%).

The main increase in production was provided by agricultural producers of the Pskov, Belgorod, Voronezh, Kursk, Lipetsk regions and the Krasnodar Territory. Simultaneously with an increase in production volumes, an increase in the export of pork meat was also observed, which for the same period, taking into account the EAEU countries, amounted to 31,600 tons, which is 43.5% more than for the same period in 2018.

Currently, the key factors influencing the development of all domestic livestock production are the formation of a modern pedigree base, the development of logistics, the strengthening of veterinary protection and the growth of export potential. The Russian agricultural industry is faced with the task of increasing exports, and pig breeding is one of the priority areas.
