Danone's cows in Siberia: what do the Germans think?

German information resource agrarheute.com published the reaction of its readers to the article about the delivery of five thousand cows to Siberia by Danone.

Josef Schmid:

"Russia has huge reserves of land. Why should not it use them to feed the people themselves? Should they continue to be dependent on EU milk produced with imported feed?"

Andrea Nagel:

"Where is the animal welfare here? Alone the route is very far and no later than the border there are no rules for the transport of live animals. Then the attitude of the animals. There are no strict controls. It comes then cheap milk with doubtful quality to us and is processed to expensive items to get even more profit."

Sabine Vandieken:

"One reason to stop buying Danone products is because I prefer to stick to the products from the German farmer who suffered enough."

The editors are grateful for the help in preparing the material for Margarita Gerke (Germany).
