A.Tkachev: there will be no milk intervention

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia does not plan to conduct state procurement interventions in the milk market this year, Minister Alexander Tkachev told journalists in Moscow on April 25, the TASS news agency reported.

"No, it is not planned, we believe that this measure is counterproductive," Tkachev said, answering the question about the possible planning of dairy interventions due to falling procurement prices for milk. Thus, he confirmed the position of the ministry, voiced in February, that the Russian milk market does not currently need to intervene. As indicated then in the Ministry of Agriculture, the decision on purchasing grain and dairy interventions will be made depending on the situation in the domestic market.

Experts note that such a decision will force the livestock producers to concentrate their efforts on improving the efficiency of dairy farms.
