Russian confectioners increased deliveries to Africa by 30%

Last year, Russian producers increased the supply of confectionery and chocolate to Africa by a third, follows from the report of the Association of Confectionary Manufacturers (ASCOND), which unites the largest enterprises of the industry. Chocolate products are most popular in Africa.

At the end of 2018, the volume of deliveries of Russian confectionery products to Africa amounted to 2,800 tons, which is 26.9% higher than the 2017 level. In monetary terms, exports to Africa last year grew by 30.5% to $ 7.3 million, ASCOND Executive Director Vyacheslav Lashmankin said. According to him, the African market in the mid-term may become attractive for Russian confectioners. "Now, we can say that Russian companies are only looking at this direction," he noted. Traditionally, the main supplies to the continent fall to Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia.
