OmSAU took part in the Congress of the Vavilov's Society

The VIIth International Congress of the Vavilov's Society of Genetics and Breeders (VOGiS), dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology of St. Petersburg State University, was held June 18-22 and gathered more than 1,000 participants from around the world. The forum was attended by researchers of the Omsk State Agrarian University (Omsky Biocluster member).

 

The congresses of the Vavilov's Society of Geneticists and Breeders are the largest genetic forums in Russia and the CIS, which are held every five years. The current VIIth VOGiS Congress is the most significant event in terms of the number of registered participants. The agenda of the congress included more than 1000 reports that covered the most topical issues of modern trends in genetics, biotechnology and breeding. Symposia were devoted, in particular, to human genetics, ecological genetics, plant breeding and biotechnology, medical genetics, post-translational processes, differentiation and stem cells, bioinformatics.

 

The researchers of Omsk State Agrarian University presented the reports: "Comparative evaluation of the genetic diversity of synthetic hexaploids with the Ae. Tauschil gene (AABBDD) and common wheat varieties" and "Using somaclonal variability in chickpea breeding for the conditions of the Omsk region".
