A working meeting of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Lut with the board of directors of the Zerno Sibiri JSC Logistics Company was held in the Government of the Omsk region. The meeting was attended by members of the Board of Directors of Zerno Sibiri, Deputy Prime Minister of the Omsk region Dmitry Ushakov, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk region Nikolai Drofa, Deputy Minister Ivan Trofimov, major exporters of the country of large companies, representatives of Rosselkhozbank JSC (Omsky Biocluster member). The main topics of the meeting were the development of the export potential of the Omsk region and the activities of Zerno Sibiri JSC.
The meeting participants discussed topics related to the supply of grain for export outside the region, including to the countries of near and far abroad, as well as the problems that agricultural producers of the Omsk region have.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Ushakov, member of the Board of Directors of Zerno Sibiri JSC, noted that the Omsk region is an agricultural region, where more than 3 million tons of grain are produced annually, including 2 million tons of wheat and 600,000 tons of barley. This volume is not only enough to meet domestic needs, but also to realize significant surpluses for export. "Omsk region is the second largest grain producer in Siberia. Omsk grain is of particular interest to all market participants," said Oksana Lut. "Given our plans, which we agreed on increasing grain production by 2024, we should receive a significant increase in volumes by next year. Therefore, grain should still be promoted. And we will contribute and help in every way."
Dmitry Ushakov confirmed that Omsk grain is in great demand. It is exported to 20 countries of near and far abroad. "Last year, we exported 2 million tons from the Omsk region, including 1.3 million tons by rail. "Last year, we exported 2 million tons from the Omsk region, including 1.3 million tons by rail. The export of grain in the total structure of agricultural export accounts for about 30%. In 2018, direct export of grain amounted to 247,000 tons , which is four times higher than in 2017. We are interested in a further increase in export deliveries in order to achieve maximum margin among commodity producers," said Dmitry Ushakov. "We are considering various options for the goal implementation. And one of them is the activity of Zerno Sibiri JSC, created by the Government of the Omsk region, whose controlling stake is with the state," Dmitry Ushakov noted.
At the same time, grain processors in the Omsk region are justifiably afraid of speculative price increases by grain producers. Already now, there are frequent cases when grain supply transactions 'hold' in anticipation of rising grain prices, not to mention the contracting of grain at a 'hard' price.
