Russian grain harvest in 2019: forecast for 110M tons

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation predicts the gross harvest of grain crops in the country in 2019 at the level of 2018 (110M tons), Interfax reports, citing information prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

 

According to preliminary data, the area under crops in Russia in 2019 will be 80.5M hectares, which is 1.3M hectares more than in 2018. At the same time, spring sowing will be carried out on an area of 52.9M hectares against 52.5M hectares in 2018. It is planned to sow spring grain and leguminous crops on 30.3M hectares, which is 2.2% more than in 2018 (29.6M hectares). In particular, the area under spring wheat will increase by 368.3K hectares to 12.36M hectares in the coming year, under corn for grain by 232.2K hectares to 2.73M hectares, under buckwheat by 81.6K hectares to 1.12M hectares.
