The growth of demand and supply, significant price fluctuations - this is the forecast for the next 12 years for the pork market, published by the experts of the European Commission.
The perspective forecast of the European Commission on the development of the world pork market until 2030 predicts that the global demand for pork will grow, but slower than in the previous decade (+560 000 tons), and will reach 8.4 million tons. Significant growth in this dynamic will be demonstrated by the EU's main trade partners in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. The level of Chinese demand after the restructuring of the pig sector remains uncertain.
The pork production in EU countries will slightly decrease by less than 1% by 2030, while in the EU member states that have added the latest to the European community, it will increase by almost 235,000 tonnes (7%). In a total of 12 years, the EU will produce more than 23.5 million tons of pork. At the same time, the EU will not consume the entire volume produced, as demand will decline and amount to less than 21 million tons. According to experts, pork prices in the next decade will fluctuate within 1.50-1.70 € / kg. A decent price is expected in the coming years.
