Specialists of the Laboratory of Quarantine Phytosanitary Examinations and Surveys of the Omsk Reference Center of Rosselkhoznadzor (member of Omsky Biocluster) found seeds of weed (ragweed) in a batch of brome seeds.
A dangerous plant was found in the study of a nine-ton batch of brome seeds of Russian origin. Ambrosia is the strongest allergen, provoking diseases of children and people of the older generation. It also hurts agriculture: developing a powerful overground mass and a root system, it strongly suppresses cultivated plants.
Ambrosia is included in the Unified List of Quarantine Facilities of the Eurasian Economic Union and is partially extended to the territories of certain regions of the Russian Federation. The quarantine status is confirmed by the conclusion of the expertise of the Omsk Reference Center.
Information on the results of the examinations carried out by experts from the Omsk Reference Center were sent to the Office of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) of Omsk region.
