The Ministry of Agriculture did not support the initiative of the Federal Customs Service to expand the Russian food embargo. According to officials, the inclusion of entire groups of products in the list of prohibited goods may undermine the stable operation of enterprises and lead to supply disruptions. The authorities are ready to return to the issue of expanding the food embargo, subject to the introduction of new sanctions against Russia.
During the meeting with Maxim Titov, Director of the Department for Regulation of Markets of the Agroindustry, which was attended by the heads of the largest industry associations, a protocol was drawn up which stated that it was not advisable to expand the list of food embargoes. Such a product would be banned, which is not found in Russia or it is impossible to find a quality replacement in countries that are not subject to the embargo. Thus, domestic production may be damaged.
